How Tank & Skinny’s simplified their businesses processes using Bamboo
In 2016, brothers Shane and Edward Doherty teamed up to launch the Tank & Skinny’s brand. Starting with a coffee shop and bakery in Muff, two years later opening their Seaside location in Buncrana and renaming their No. 6 cafe in Letterkenny. And, this year (2021) they’re launching a new store in Limavady. A roaring success story for these Buncrana locals.
Making a new business model more efficient
Tank and Skinny’s was primarily an in-venue dining experience but like a lot of other businesses in Ireland, the pandemic forced them to re-assess their business model and start honing in on takeaways. That’s where Bamboo came in!

“We needed something that would speed up the process for our staff and our customers. Phones were ringing off the hook, customers were queuing up outside and we couldn’t manage the orders as efficiently as we wanted to.
We had heard good things about Bamboo from other locals in the industry and decided we’d give it a go. We implemented bamboo fairly quickly and it’s been a great help, especially through the lockdowns. It's really just sped up the process for everyone involved”
Simplifying the onboarding process for staff

Tank & Skinny’s wanted something that would add to their customer’s experience. Something that made their lives a little bit easier, removed the wait and gave back some precious time.
“I know from talking to the customers, they find it so useful. With just a few taps on their phone, their order is placed and paid for, sorted! All they have to do is pick it up when the Bamboo app says it’s ready.”
Results
Tank & Skinny’s results are amazing and definitely deserve to be celebrated. Whilst other businesses in the industry are struggling, they’re on their way to opening their fourth store and that’s no mean feat!
Deane told us that Bamboo orders make up a large portion of their sales, at least 3 or 4 out of 10 come from the app! The customers and staff are happy to use Bamboo and the team shout about it on their social media and across the web which definitely shows.
